JORTAN Consulting and Advisory was founded by Gary Harrod in 2014. After 25 years of managing construction and engineering related businesses, Gary left the corporate world to pursue his passion to provide honest, reliable and effective adivice and assistance to specific niche clients. Gary's knowledge, experience and execution capabilities are a valuable outsourced resource for any organisation.

JORTAN Consulting and Advisory's services and solutions are tailor-made to suite the clients needs with a strong emphasis on trust and partnering. These partnerships may be as a trusted advisor, executive or non-executive director, commitee member, project manager, equity investor, partner or a bespoke combination as required.



Gary has more than 25 years construction and general business experience in both small and large scale South African construction and other related businesses.

Gary graduated with a BSc (Construction Management) from the University of Cape Town as well as qualifying from the Construction Management Program at Stellenbosch University. 

Gary commenced his career as a bursar student with Grinaker Building and worked to attain the position of Contracts Manager. In 1998 Gary joined the RACEC Group as a Contracts Manager and soon became fully involved in all aspects of running the business. During his tenure he become Managing Director of the Electrification subsidiary, before being promoted to Chief Executive Officer of the RACEC Group.

Personal highlights during this time was general business management, increased profitability and growth, introduction of a Broad Based Black Empowerment ownership vehicle within the company, various acquisitions and disposals and the successful public listing of the company on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. More recently Gary was actively involved in various restructuring initiatives and the ultimate sale and delisting of the business to a major listed corporate entity.

Gary has actively participated as an executive director on public and private company boards as well as various commitee and sub-commitee boards.
